HALLIE WARD

Hallie Ward is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Southern Mississippi under Dr. Danilo Mezzadri. Ward performs as principal flute with the USM graduate woodwind quintet, Wind Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra, and works as a graduate assistant. Through her studies, Hallie is pursuing research on the American flute player Marguerite de Forest-Anderson. Hallie received her Master of Music in Performance, studying under Dr. Stephen Clark at Northwestern State University. While studying at Northwestern State University she was a graduate assistant for the flute studio and recording studio, along with completing her Masters thesis with research focusing on Marcel Moyse and Toshio Takahashi. She received her Bachelor of Music in Performance at the University of Arizona, where she studied with Dr. Brian Luce and was an intern with the university’s Women Resource Center.​

Hallie Ward was the winner of the 2024 Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra Concerto/Aria Competition and performed Frank Martin’s Ballade with the orchestra. She has performed at the 2019 and 2024 National Flute Association Convention and Carnegie Hall with the Young Adult Honors Performance Series Wind Ensemble. Hallie has performed in masterclasses for a variety of artists, including Marks Sparks, Susan Milan, and Aslihan And. She has traveled to and attended the British Isles Music Festival in Guilford, England; Galway Flute Festival in Luzerne, Switzerland; and the International Flute Workshop in Curitiba, Brazil.
